Dalkia is part of a multi-disciplinary team who has been retained by the City of Surrey to develop a district energy strategy for Surrey's City Centre. The team is lead by Kerr Wood Leidal, a Vancouver based engineering and master planning consultancy.
The City Centre will be Metro Vancouver's second downtown with a projected population of 80,000 residents and 37,000 employees by 2030. As with all of Metro Vancouver, the City of Surrey is keen to promote district energy based on renewable energy as a means of providing affordable heating with minimal greenhouse gas emissions.
Dalkia will be using its worldwide experience on some 800 district energy schemes to provide technical, commercial, policy, and financial input to the study.
